Without You

Without You

A Poem by volleywriter15
"

Trying to get through the first stages of a break up

"

When I could no longer call you mine

I went searching for you

In bottles of cheap vodka

That burned like gasoline

In little pills handed to me by friends

With the promise of taking away my pain

I tried rolling you up and breathing you in

I thought I felt you

In the frigid winter air that wrapped me in a tight hug

If missing you

Could cut the distance between us

Only our clothes

Would keep us apart

But I cannot drink away the pain

I can not wish away the distance

All I can do is write

And allow this wave of longing to crash over me

Allow myself to be carried out to sea

Allow myself to nearly drown

But I know, the moon will chase the tide back

And the sun will rise again

And it will be the start of a new day

Trying to be okay

Without you
