Urban SprawlA Poem by Weston R.My April 9th poem for NaPoWriMo 2012
Urbanity,
In the vast midst of a nature that seemingly extends forever, Spreads outward As the landscape begins to retreat and creep inward. Blemishes of light sprout On the face of the earth where trees once sprang. And as blemishes become rashes While ecosystems become yards & fields, It’s harder to find more of one Than the other, and vice versa. But soon the large expanses of buildings Will outshine the fewer plains, And the illumination of knowledge & experience Will force fields to hide From the ever progressing feet of the cities imploring A hasty retreat, Until at last the sprawl of enlightenment has finally ended Ignorance. © 2012 Weston R.Author's Note
