The Labor

My April 7th poem for NaPoWriMo 2012

the labor of stars were all for us.

our names are burned into the will
and testament of the stars
as we are benevolently made the
beneficiaries of their existence.

we are the starstuff of the universe.

the labor of earth is all for us.

our names are embedded into the will
and testament of the earth
as we are given at gunpoint
the spoils of its exploitation.

we are the parasites of the universe.

the labor of us is all for what?

the unknown names are written into the will
and testament of ourselves
as ghosts are given without consent
the products of our work.

we are the questionmarks of the universe.
