Four haiku written while walking - 3/24/12

A Poem by Weston R.
"

While walking today, I ended up writing these four haiku.

"
Butterfly, black, orange
pauses on a magnolia
      Flies into field

A hint of flower
As magnolias quiver
In the light spring breeze

Children babbling
over the scuffling of feet
On the cool sidewalk

Dead worm in a ditch
Stiff and dry and lying still
Died after the rain

Author's Note

Weston R.
Thought I'd put haiku written at once all as one poem/title, instead of having four different ones.

they each flow into one another. it's a pretty scene; the butterfly and the magnolia. what brings it down to earth is the proximity of the children and their obliviousness to the death of the worm. the poem starts with life and ends with death. excellent piece.
