Midnight Thoughts

Midnight Thoughts

A Poem by Jemima Laing

I miss the sound of your voice

And the feel of your hair

I don’t have enough sense to

Move on and get on with my life

I miss the sound of your laugh

And the conversations we shared

I have the sense to realize that I

Don’t know how to let you go

I see other girls who walk pretty

With nice flowing long hair

And I feel the spark of something

Stirring deep in my heart and mind

I start to think, maybe she’s the one

But in the end it never works out

Because she’s not you

And I can't help but compare

And I think of you when no one else is around

I think of you, whenever my feet touch the ground

Pulled back to earth by your gravity

My thoughts pulled inevitably back into orbit

Around you and what we used to be
