Ren Faire

Ren Faire

A Poem by Jemima Laing

Amber will forever be the smell of good sex

Because of what you said

And we had a good time there

Standing beside the path, flirting at the Ren Faire

You in your blue bodice that matched your eyes

The very eyes that sparkled with infatuation

Or lack of oxygen, I couldn’t quite tell

We made each others day more interesting

As you chased me through the crowds

Trying to catch me, and make me buy your wreaths

And in the end I think I let you catch me

But I didn’t really get to know you

You didn’t really mean anything to me

A person whose company I enjoyed, nothing more

What you really did for me though

Was so much more than that

You made me realize what I truly miss

I miss the feeling of someone’s arms

Wrapped strongly around me

And how you did that without us touching

I will never know, I just wanted to say thank you
