Sweet Dreams

Sweet Dreams

A Poem by Jemima Laing

I look up at the stars

That shine down on me

Comforted by the thought

That they shine on you too

I didn't want to leave you

Or feel the ache your absence brings

I could have stayed forever

In your arms under the trees

With the daylight

come thoughts of you

which flicker in and out

But they make me smile

Sometimes these thoughts alone

Keep me from losing my mind

They make me calm

And drive out all other thoughts

When night comes softely

And everyone is at peace

I let sweet memories of you

Rock me off to sleep
