Sweet Dreams

Sweet Dreams

A Poem by Jemima Laing

Every night when I fall asleep

I hold your pillow close to me

Pretending that it is you in my arms

Instead of overstuffed cloth

I wish I could hold you

As you drifted off in peace

And wonder what you were dreaming of

As you rested in your sleep

I wish I could wake up

With your arms clasped around me

And your head upon my chest

As I faded back into restful oblivion

I wish all this and so much more

As I lay here tonight

Wishing it was you, ma chere

That my arms held so tight

So sad, but very beautiful. There's so much emotion to this. Loss, longing, love. Great work!
