I wanted to write a poem

That expressed my love for you

an ode to your stunning beauty

a sonnet for your smile

 

But every line that comes to mind

Each comparison I make

Cheapens the aspects I hold dear

Dulling the facets that make you shine

 

I don't want to bore you or waste your time

With worn out phrases that go on and on

So I'll make this short and clear 

Letting you know just how I feel

Where ever you are, my dear

 

When I think of you, each and every day

I admit that you take my breath away

The smoothness of your skin, the feel of your hair

Take me to another place, without a single care

You worry that I'm always tired

Well, m'dear the way you make my heart leap

It's a wonder I get any sleep

 

What makes you truly special in my eyes

Is that your beauty of body and mind

Meet unfailingly without any compromise

So let me tell you that I love you

And I think about you all the time

Wondering just how the hell

I managed to make you mine
