I'm melting

I'm melting

A Poem by Jemima Laing

As we honor the deity of silence

Who's name is long lost to posterity

I lie ensconced in your loving arms

Immerged in the hum of our exhausted bodies

My breathing gradually becomes lethargic

Yours slows in heartfelt empathy

One by one every muscle relaxes

The stress takes this rare chance to flee

As my jaw relaxs it's tenacious grip

I gain a strange sense of serenity

Tension hastens a retreat down my back

My blood flows with the viscosity of honey

Your finger finds the pulse in my neck

And strokes it oh so gently

My eyes flutter and close

And I lose myself tothe tranquility
