Self-pity

Self-pity

A Poem by Jemima Laing
"

I think that the title describes it in a nutshell. Teenage angst make for such soppy poetry.

"

What would you do

If I no longer listened

Where would you go

If I no longer cared

What would you do

If I told everyone

Who would you be

If your world was undone

I am propped in a corner

When you do not need me

You leave me there to rot

You leave me so cruelly

A doll that is used as comfort

And forgotten in times of joy

A shoulder to cry on

Your comforting toy

Or am I just the tragic figure

In my mind alone

Is this all just my self-pity

Making me a malevolent crone

Sulking from inwanted reality

Oh what a grand picture I own

i actually love this poem. i think its something everyone can relate to. forgotten, used, then thrown away. its not always just self-pity, but the way of the world. very well written.
