red and black

red and black

A Poem by voidsparrow
"

i just found this in my myspace archives

"

I am the new summer, red and black

Only once, though.

I wish, how I wish

To be the man/boy in the corner

Unknown to the world, to the street lights

That pretend to guide me.

Write my name in the worst color

All over broadway;

Cowardly yellow, instead of fire engine red.

And I could be the cancer that cures this city,

That flushes the mock tears away

And drags every last wrist cutting,

Pill popping, and 40oz chugging  punk

Outside where no one can see them.

I would write a book, but I would only

Want the attention

And an excuse to be a recluse.

Go away for a while, says I,

Running and running and running

Green means go, yellow means go faster

Red means get out of town.

Cant loose touch with the water

Cant loose touch with the dirt

Cant loose touch with my nerves,

Which I left in a box under the bed.

I guess I cant be a recluse, then.

But I can still be red and black if I want to.
