Hunters of Kentucky

After their disastrous first date Joey and Jeanie talked or texted pretty much every day. Jeanie ended up moving to New York and rooming with a guy she knew in college. One night, months later, Jeanie and Joey were on the phone together.

"You race tomorrow night, right?" Jeanie asked.

"Yes I do."

"Where are you at?"

"Kentucky. It's a good race track for me, I've won here before."

"That's awesome. I think. I've never been there before, but I have a song about Kentucky. Huntrres, to be precise."

"Fascinating. How have you been?"

"Tired. Sometimes computer stuff can be pretty boring. Buuuut, you might want to pick up a copy of this week's USWeekly."

"Oh yeah?"

"Yeah." Jeanie said with a smile.
"That's great."

"Thanks. If I don't talk to you tomorrow before the race, good luck, okay?"

"Okay, thanks. Bye."

"Bye." As soon as Jeanie hung up she turned around and saw her roommate, Matt staring at her. "what?" she asked.

"First, are all of your conversations that boring?"

"Well, not exactly. We just talk every day. There's never anything earth shattering."

"Second, when are you going to tell him?"

"Tell him what?"

"Your favorite ice cream." Matt responded sarcastically. "No, come on. How about that you have a kid?"

"I don't know." Jeanie said exasperatedly. "It's really not something that comes up in conversations."

"Practice on me." Matt sat down next to Jeanie.

"Okay. Joey, I know we haven't been very clear about what's going on between us. And I like you, but I've been moving slow and keeping distance for a reason. I....have a kid."

"Jeanie, that was perfect. Just say that."
Jeanie smiled "Thanks. But I'm worried I'm going to screw up. He's so cute and it's distracting."

"It'll be fine. Last question; are you aware that it is past time for us to watch It's Always Sunny?"
