The Air is Everywhere

The Air is Everywhere

A Chapter by VivianMarie

The next day Jeanie was sitting on Joey's pit box waiting for the race to start. The hours leading up to that point had been sufficiently awkward. She had the feeling that Joey was reading more into her showing up than she has intended. To add to the discomfort, it seemed like a lot of the people Joey introduced her to had heard if her, which couldn't be a good thing. When the engines started Jeanie jumped nearly a foot in the air. That was louder than anything she had ever heard!

Throughout the race, Jeanie wrote down the terms that she didn't get along with her interpretation

"tight: something that makes people mad. Loose: something that makes pee mad. Spin: something that makes people really mad."

After the race Jeanie didn't know what to do. She figured she had to leave the track area. There was probably some place that he went after the race the race, but she didn't have a clue where it was. That would have been a decent thing to show in the "tour", right? Jeanie just wandered around the places she had already been shown. She looked at other driver's shop-things, recognized a few of them from the race. She jotted on her notepad the names and things she remembered, like the guy who cut Joey's tire--whatever that meant. Just her luck, Jeanie got a text. "Where did you go?" "Got lost" she responded. Joey texted her back with the directions to his motor coach. When Jeanie got there, she walked in shyly, "Heyyyy" she whispered shyly. She felt kinda nervous, she didn't see Joey. Thankfully, he appeared.

"Hi! How did you like the race?"

"Yeah, it was really interesting. I'll watch it more often."

Joey smiled widely, "Really? Great!"

Jeanie nodded, this was now kind of awkward.

"Do you want to go out to dinner now?"

"Sure!" Jeanie agreed excitedly "...but I have to make a call first"

Joey didn't have enough time to say okay before she rushed out the door and started talking on her phone. Joey peered through the window, trying to get a sense of what she was talking about. All he could tell was that she didn't seem all that emotional. When   Jeanie came back in, the two left together.
