How Hot Is That?

Joey climbed into Denny's car. He didn't really know what to say to the guys.

 

"So how did it go?" Denny asked.

 

Joey shruged.

 

"You didn't go through with it, did you?"

 

Joey didn't say anything.

 

"Well, I'm not surprised."

 

Joey stopped listening as Denny started talking about himself.

 

Kyle leaned close to Joey. He seemed sober enough, but still reeked of booze. "I don't know. He's hiding something."

 

Joey shifted uncomfortable. "Guys, it was fine. Okay?"

 

"Come on, details?"

 

"Oh, please." Denny remarked. "I don't even believe you."

 

Harvick stifled a laugh. Personally he doubted Joey had it in him.

 

"Whatever." Joey whined.

 

"Aw," Denny turned around and mocked "I'm sorry."

 

Joey folded his arms angrily. He was starting to regret coming, the guys were being stupid and it probably wasn't worth it.

A few days later, Jeanie was out to lunch with one of her "colleagues", Sheila. As usual they were dishing about their clients. Sheila was complaining about some weirdo she was with, but Jeanie was hardly listening.

 

"What about you?" Sheila asked.

 

Jeanie shrugged "Nothing interesting. You know that I'm not a magnet like you."

 

"That's your own fault. You know that you could get a lot more if you were...you know, improved."

 

"Yeah, not interested." Jeanie said with an eyeroll.

 

"Probably for the best. You sem to get all the nice guys."

 

Jeanie shrugged again. "I guess."

 

Like that cute guy the other day."

 

Jeanie couldn't help but smile "Yeah, him" she remembered him, mostly because he was one of the only ones she hadn't tried to remove from her memory.

 

"Come on, tell. What was he like?"

 

"He was nice. And really cute. But kind of clueless."

 

"First time?"

 

"Yeah, I think so. He was nervous, he said he was a race car driver. How hot is that?"

 

"Did he come with anyone?"

 

"I think he said his teammates brought him."

 

"Makes sense. I think I was with one of them."

 

"Oh, interesting."

 

"Okay, back to you. So, this guy. He was nice?"

 

"Yeah..."

 

"Like, boyfriend material?"

 

"Does that matter?"

 

"Why not?"

 

"Maybe he is. But like I said, it doesn't matter, because I'm far from girlfriend material."

 

"Why not?"

 

"Um, maybe the whole sex with strangers thing."

 

"Then quit!"

 

"What?"

 

"You don't want to be here forever. And you can kill 2 birds with one stone."

 

Jeanie was quiet while Sheila rambled on about god knows what and she considered the value of this idea. What if? she began to think. No, that would be stupid. 

 

"I gotta go." Jeanie finally said to Sheila. 

 

"Follow your heart!" Sheila shouted to Jeanie as she left. Jeanie shivered, she had spent years denying that she had one and that had worked out fine so far. Why stop now?
