A Talk with Skylar

Skylar and Jade talk about her problems with Magnus.

 Thank goodness! It’s the weekend now…

 No Magnus, no Leah, and no dumb principal!

 I didn’t know what to do. I decided after a while to go to the library, maybe Skylar Hymes would be there.

 I took my bike, my backpack, and a few books I had to return with me.

Along the way, I looked up at the trees and thought to myself where all the leaves have gone.

 I noticed some wind blowing in my direction so I biked faster and turned, then went straight down that hill to the library.

 I parked my bike, locked it up, and then went inside the toasty library.

 I put my books in the drop thing then went to search for one to read.

 I looked and looked for about 5 minutes until I found a Princess Diaries book and started reading.

 You know, these were all the rage about 5 or 6 years ago, and now I’m finally reading it.

 I have to admit though, it’s pretty cool. I think I’ve seen the movie, but I don’t remember any of it.

 Just as I got done with the third chapter, I heard a voice behind me say my name.

“Jade? Hello…Earth to Jade?” they said waving their hand in my face. I immediately recognized the voice as Skylar’s, my good friend.

 “Oh- hi…,” I said turning around to meet the gaze of her dark brown eyes. I bet I looked pretty stupid right now.

 “What’s up?” she asked.

 “Oh, nothing, just reading this…,” I replied, showing her my book.

 “Oh, that’s cool,” she said, sitting down next to me.

I turned to meet her gaze again and said, “Hey- guess what happened on Thursday?”

 She was silent for a moment then replied, “What?”

 I told her, “Look- you remember Magnus, right?”

 She replied, “Ya I think…”

 “You remember he kept asking me out last year?” I said.

 “Oh, him- Magnus Warner!” she said enthusiastically. “Did you say yes?”

 “Damn, your one step behind me…,” I replied. “But that’s ok, I’ll fill you in.”

 You see, Skylar is still in the middle school, 7^th grade to be exact, so she wouldn’t really know about all this.

 After I filled her in, her eyes got big and wide.

 “Really?” she asked.

 I nodded.

 “No way! And now Leah is after you?” she said.

 “Yup, but I think I gotta go, text me,” I replied.

 “Ok- I’ll try to help!” said Skylar.

 Well- now it’s about a million to 2.

 I’m still screwed.
