My New Angel

A short poem based around finding new love.

I've found a new angel that left my sorrow behind

In her eyes I learned, it was myself I had to define

Before I was lonely, with only you on my mind

But I've discovered my weakness and pushed you far aside

My new angel has showed me, it's my world that waits

She told me love was true, your heart had only hate

She came down from the heavens for me, before it was too late

You only used my heart for your future as bait

You've ignored better judgment, and made me into you savior

Abused my loyalty, to develop only grandeur

My agreement strengthens your sense of confidence even more

But the New angel thinks your nothing but a w***e

My new Angel loves me, something I can now understand

She doesn't want me to claw at the dirt and make something grand

You isolated me in a distant, far away land

Hoping I would break and die on your command

I've left my oppressor in the shadow of hate

Hoping that never again, my joy must wait

I've been locked in this prison for longer than I know

Waiting for my old angel to finally let me go

I've seen the beautiful light in my new angels eyes

Something that was lost long ago in my life

No longer a fantasy, I hold on so I can survive

It is now the frail truth of my old angel that whither and dies

You told me that it was my heart that was dead and wrong

But my new angel healed me with her glorious song

We once began with a beauty so lovely

But with time your beauty is what may have killed me

I was once caged in a cell of false love

But she's shown me the freedom on the wings above

I will not die in the hands of my old angels greed

For it is my new angel that my scarred soul must now need
