Drive Through Reflections

Drive Through Reflections

A Poem by Vlazuvius
"

Written on a McDonalds bag after buying 39 cent hamburgers while homeless in Boise, ID eight years ago.

"

"We love to see you smile" says the sign
but with over two billion served
in neat, prepackaged rows
it's hard not to feel disposable
growing up just to realize
that Happy Meals are anything but
Faceless exchanges of hard earned cash
just to eat with strangers
coming back silently, with hidden hopes
That a free toy inside might be the thing
To put salvation in grasp, or so I think
As I dig in the ashtray for change
my food is ready
