the tear drop of an ephemeral sea

the tear drop of an ephemeral sea

A Poem by vivekanand

Promising a quick return,

a rain drop had jumped off the cloud..

Meanwhile,

Valli was busy burying her first milk tooth....

The new mayor ‘s passionate speech

was drawing cheers from the fiery crowd..

A new child,  unaware that the mother is dead

was welcomed to the world,

Complete with crackers of 1000 wala bijilis...

Cibe was making his now  famous vow

not to celebrate diwali

moved by the plight of the neighbour’s dog

suffocated to its death in our backyard hole

 fearing sulphur and fire...

The girl in the white nightie

was signing her suicide note ..

The last alphabet she inked on earth

trailing with a big flourish...

Then the unseen raindrop

fell into the drain

And like all the  other unnoticed trivias

of this sea of humanity

Disappeared without a word..

Quite a narrowing of the focus to look at each issue for what it is. It could easily be substituted by the question ' A child is born, Who is he?' And as he goes through life, it ought to present as much curiosity and wonder at what he's going to discover. A nice write!
