The Man in BlackA Poem by Brian Jr.As I crossed the street the other day I passed this man dressed in black Whose hands suddenly changed from white to red And he knew I had caught his serious REVELATION
But I simply walked on Past his signs with a smile For I had already decided On today’s DESTINATION
Later I was walking Along the side of a bridge And again I ran into the man Whose every spoken word was as strong as wind That could lift any man off of his FEET
The words were clear Neither friendly nor menacing Words that you shall have to hear on your own For I will be so generous And these words I will not REPEAT
40 years go by and still on any new day on any new routine it is not a coincidence that I continue to meet the man in black who looks still young while I have grown OLD
Today he stops me and speaks With a humanly state of confusion For forty years you have seen me everywhere you go But you never seem to show concern What is it you know That makes you remain so BOLD?
I told him I realize that this is life Me and you will continue to meet so long as we are both still alive It is not coincidence but rather a common fate And one day we will finally meet one last time And bid farewell Have one last talk about our lives And go our separate WAYS
And you will follow someone else On their journeyAnd talk to them along the way Hopefully they will not run or fight But understand that in life For the rest of their particular life Running into you will be the most common of DAYS
