Lily

Lily

A Poem by Ryan Greenham
"

A tribute to my recently departed furry friend, Lily

"
You were serenity in form,
a gentle breeze in the leaves
Whenever you laid near, all felt well

Golden fur ablaze like the sun,
you brightened my soul in the greyest times
Brown eyes that soothed my pain more than any pill

Your name reflected our blossoming friendship,
one that withstood flames and foes and misfortunes
I am no gardener, but you were my favourite flower

Years passed, your body slowed,
but your heart remained steadfast
Love unconditional, loyalty unmatched,
the pack was your anchor

We celebrated your victories,
we comforted your defeats
Even when fear clouded your mind,
we guided you through the haze

Now you are gone, but still near
I have grown so much in our time together,
and even more so now
Thank you Lily, my friend now and forever

This is a beautiful tribute. I never knew how hard it was to lose a dog until I lost mine to cancer. It's going on one year and I still cry. I'm so sorry for your loss.
