Beautiful MisfitA Poem by Ryan GreenhamSome people always feel like they don't belong
It's something you've felt your entire life,
like an unspoken rule or an unwritten law You don't quite understand it, but you do and somehow it just feels natural You felt it all the way through school, being shunned by everyone and everything Tried as you did to change that, you could never trade a book for a basketball When you go to family reunions, you smile at familiar faces but say little What can you say to people you only see once a year? It's just another year gone by When you go to parties, you sit in the corner clutching your drink while everyone hoards the dance floor You watch as everyone waves their arms in excitement not quite getting the hint Whatever solace you find is kept secret, scribbled in your scrapbook, your notebook in musical lyrics that let you know that you are not alone because others have been where you are Through solitude, your find solidarity You don't belong, and that's what makes you beautiful
