The MirrorA Poem by virginia_fthe room was small and held simple objects of...The tears dripped off my sorrowful face The tears fell to the floor like springtime rain The tears splashed to the wooden ground, already damp The candle shined dimly in the room, dark as ash The candle flickered, giving my face an disturbing glow The candle slowly drizzled hot wax at a snail pace The Room was bare The Room only held me The Room only could hold me, space for only one heart The chair creaked back and fourth, trying to settle my quaking body The chair was weak, barely sturdy enough to hold my slender form The chair was almost a comfort, for it was my only supporter The door stood tall and intimidating The door stayed closed, keeping nonexistent visitors out The door never opened up, like I did to you The Room was bare The Room only held me The Room only could hold me, space for only one heart The jacket clung to my unsavory body The jacket had splotches of dark, from the tears The jacket was like a mother’s arm, staying there for an extra touch of comfort The mirror reflected the light from the candle The mirror caught my eye and I looked up, distracted from the pain for a moment I put my head back down in despair, for it only held images of you © 2016 virginia_f |
