Disconnected From Messenger

Disconnected From Messenger

A Poem by Alex Hutchinson
"

What does it feel like to lose all belief in yourself?

"

It’s the sorrow of being untouched

By hand, by sound of voice

Reflected

It’s a wound within the chest

A throbbing ache

Regretted

It’s a dense fog of the soul

Succumbing to bad posture

The body language of one who knows

Only how to falter

It’s the beckoning gloom of endless night

The tireless wake of the surf

It’s a shelf stocked with memoirs that gave up the fight

Fear of a premature birth

It’s sitting alone

Cast aside

By one’s own expectations

It’s choosing to cry

Without knowing why

The pity your only salvation

As someone who's shelve is filled with memoirs, and even my own sits there, unfinished. I understood this piece. Succumbing to bad posture and dreaming of the flesh that shall only be read through the words of a cold computer screen. Endless nights that will never be fulfilled by the one thing that can truly make me feel whole.

Alex,

This write - Oh, My...

This entire write surrounded my very being..
It encircled my thoughts and caused visions of memories;
smitten at times but mostly longing to be forgotten.

These lines were my utmost favorite,

"It's sitting alone

Cast aside

By one's own expectations

It's choosing to cry

Without knowing why".

For not only did you fathom the idea of self - isolation,
but made this strange connection with those who inhale the
air contemplating each word.

Once again,
an outstanding write this was!

My Best,
~*AC*~

Very expressive, I love the images it conjures.

Yeah, that stanza stood out to me, too, as did the last - the build up of rhetoric power throughout the poem is truly astounding, particularly loved the wording of 'The dense fog of the soul'. The only thing that sticks out to me, which I'm not entirely sure of, but I think I might mention is the apostrophe in the it's. Doesn't look right to me, 'course I could be wrong, but see what you think. hehe. Once again, lovely title, lovely poem, lovely imagery, lovely conclusion. I think you can already guess what my answering reponse is going to be, lovely poem!!! :P

C. Boylan before this note described the essence of all I would have wanted to say, but would not have been able. Your imagery was superb and the subject matter very unusual. You sure do have your readers hooked line and sinker my friend. Well enjoyed this poem. Anne. xxx

This was a great poem, and I find your work always has a deeper meaning that what is shown. I have neglected reading most of your work, but now that I am back home I will remedy that.

A New Favorite!!! I felt that you spoke through experience and not imagination. I wanted to cry from the pain I felt in your words. I loved every word of it. Like I said, Its a favorite- for many reasons.

I really like this one of yours. Probably my favorite so far. It hit a nerve. But I agree with Lucinda, it helps in the healing. Tis why we write, is it not? Great poem Alex.
