![]() Chapter 4A Chapter by KurayamiIn English class, we were supposed to write an essay on a book. The book was called “The Outsiders”. Tiffany wasn’t really concentrating hard on her essay. She’d been passing notes to Sean since we got to class. I wondered what they were writing about. Tiffany never really passes notes to other people in class. When Sean passed the note back to Tiffany, she nodded as if agreeing with something. Then she looked at me with a glint in her eyes. I wondered if it had got anything to do with me at all. I sighed and kept writing my essay. I’d ask Tiffany later about the note. I finally finished my essay and put it on the teacher’s desk. My English teacher nodded and I went back to my seat. Bored, I looked around. Most people were still writing their essay but they didn’t look like they were trying to write a good essay. They looked as if they just wanted to get it over and done with. Some girls were whispering to each other. Edward’s brow was furrowed as he scanned the book for useful quotes to put in his essay. I turned back to my own table. Tiffany and Sean were still passing notes and looked somewhat excited. Maybe they were planning a special school project together. I nodded to myself, this made sense. ♪♫♪ Tiffany was waiting for me at my locker. She gave me a little wave when she saw me. She looked excited. Something awesome must have happened to her. I smiled and made my way to her. “Hey. What’s up?” I asked wanting to know the reason behind her smile. “Sean and I are planning a ‘Welcome Back’ dancing event. It’s a bit like homecoming except it’s going to be near the end of Term 1 not the end of the year,” Tiffany explained. I was shocked. This was not what I expected, “Do the teachers know this? I mean does anyone else know about it?” “Yes, everyone knows about it,” she replied, “And that’s why I’m here. We’re going shopping for our dresses.” “When is this event...err ball?” I asked. Surely if they started planning today, the ball won’t be until next month. “The ball is on this Friday,” Tiffany answered, “Sean and I have started planning this last week.” “Is everyone going? I mean the whole school?” I asked. I felt confused. I’d starting to think that maybe this was just a joke from a dream that I would wake up from but in truth, it was not a dream at all. “Yes, everyone is going. I know this is very sudden for you and I’m sorry for not telling you sooner but we do need to get going if we want to have something decent for to wear for the ball,” said Tiffany. “Alright,” I said. Tiffany is the kind of person who never accepts a ‘no’ from other people. I might as well save the argument because she was going to win anyway. I picked up my school bag and followed Tiffany out of the school building. ♪♫♪ We went to the nearest mall from our school. The mall is Tiffany’s best place to be. She just loved to be there. She always says that if she could, she’d live in the mall. I guess she could be quite crazy sometimes but never mind that, we are best friends. “Here we are!” said Tiffany with much enthusiasm. We walked into the mall. There were lots of students hanging around doing several different things. Some were reading, sitting on the benches or in small groups chatting. Some were in stores buying things or trying on new clothes. Tiffany grabbed my hand and went into the first store appropriate for ballroom clothes. ♪♫♪ Two hours has passed. We’d pretty much finished our shopping mission this afternoon. Tiffany will be wearing a light blue strapless gown to the ball with her shiny and glossy heels and an aquamarine necklace that she received from her grandma for her birthday. Tiffany picked out my gown for me. When it comes to fashion, Tiffany’s the best person in the world to get opinions from. The reason why she’s my best friend and not some other girls is because we both don’t wear earrings. We don’t have pierced ears. She picked out a black gown with a side strap for me. She said it fitted me just right. Indeed, when I looked into the mirror earlier, I looked as if I was transformed into someone else. She picked out a pair of black leather boots for me. I will be wearing all this with my amethyst necklace to the ball. Tiffany and I love natural stones. We like them because we believe that they can help with our mental strengths. © 2015 KurayamiAuthor's Note
