![]() Chapter 2A Chapter by KurayamiChapter 2 The sun shone as bright as diamonds today morning as I was walking to school with Tiffany. We chatted as we go to our lockers and went to our form class. We have every single class together. We sat down near the front of the classroom. Celine and her friends occupied the seats at the back of the class. She was showing her friends her new lipstick and how her lips sparkled when she put it on. Her friends complimented how good the lipstick look on her and asked her where she got it. The bell rang notifying the students to get to their form classes and stop chatting. All sounds ceased as our form class teacher walked into the classroom with a guy. The new guy looked around nervously. I whispered to Tiffany that this was the guy that I talked to on Sunday. She nodded and turns her head back. “Students, this is Edward Roland. He will be joining our school from now on. Please welcome him and help him out,” said Miss Mead, our form class teacher, to Edward, she said, “Here is your schedule, Edward. Enjoy your first day here. You can join Yvette and Tiffany, they have the exact same schedule as you.” Edward nodded, “Thank you, Miss Mead.” “Yvette, can you please show Edward around. You both have the same schedule,” Miss Mead addressed us. “Sure,” I said and beckoned Edward to sit down. He looked slightly better than last time I see him. “I’m walking with my boyfriend today, Yvette. He said he needed to talk to me,” Tiffany said as she looked up from her phone. “Go ahead,” I said and gave her a smile. ♪♫♪ I and Edward walked to the tuck shop and waited in line for our turn. Edward has been following me around all morning. I showed him around and told him that he is welcome to go and keep company with other guys but he didn’t. I was puzzled. A normal guy would make some friends already and start hanging out but Edward didn’t. “It would be a good idea if you hang out with the guys. They won’t bite, you know,” I said, encouraging him to go and make other friends. “Thank you but I think I prefer to be in your company,” he said. This totally doesn’t make sense. It puzzled me that he prefers to hang with me instead of others. We got to the front of the line and I ordered a ham sandwich. Edward didn’t order anything. He looked nervous and very uncomfortable as if a monster might jump out of the shadow and eat him for lunch. “You should get something to eat,” I said to him as I sat down opposite my friend Tiffany and her boyfriend. Edward looked around and said, “Would you please get one of the sandwiches?” “Sure, I’ll be right back,” I said and went back to the line and get his sandwich for him. I sat down and start eating my sandwich. Edward looked confusedly at his sandwich, trying to find a way to unwrap the wrapper. I would talk to him later, I promised myself. He may be new and a bit different but seeing his reaction to everything, there must be something with him. Right now though, I would help him to unwrap the wrapper around the sandwich. “Thank you very much,” he said offering a smile. He looked more handsome when he smiles. I nodded and continued eating my sandwich and started chatting with Tiffany and her boyfriend, Sean. ♪♫♪ Edward waited as I put my books into my locker and took out the books that I’ll need. Now is the time to talk to him but first, we need to go somewhere where there aren’t many people around. I decided we would go to the park where I first met him. Tiffany is going to the library with his boyfriend to do some research. ♪♫♪ We got to the park after ten minutes. We sat on a wooden bench. I put my bag next to me. There weren’t much people at the park. Some kids were playing tag in the playground. “So, I figured out there is something wrong about you. I mean, you didn’t even know how to unwrap the wrapper at lunch time and you talk in like a person straight out of the Victorian era. Who are you, really? Where do you come from?” I asked him. He looked at me and took something out of his jeans pocket. It was a small object that’s made out of metal. There were some number buttons on it and a red big button near the top. Then he told me the whole story. It turns out that he really is from the Victorian era. He told me that he pressed some numbers and then pressed the red button and then suddenly he was here, at the park where we are now. Edward claimed that he had no idea about what the object was but he felt that it’s got something to do with the object. It is weird considering the fact that these kinds of objects just don’t turn up in the Victorian times and look normal. This object looked like it could be from the modern times. We decided that we will go to the library and search the object up. While the computer was loading, I chatted with him. I wanted to know more about all of it. It turns out that he is genuinely confused about the situation. “Where do you live now? You said you only turned up the day I found you but then you would never have any idea about what a high school is, right? Let alone enrolling yourself and get these modern time clothes. What did the police do after I left you?” I asked. “There was a nice police woman there. She was very kind to me and when they couldn’t figured out where I came from, she took me home and told me that I can live there while I try to find a place to stay,” Edward answered. He looked more comfortable now, presumably because now I know his secret. After an hour, we went home. It turns out that the object is a sort of “Time Traveller” thing that when someone holds it punch in the number of years they want to go to and press the red button, they will automatically be at that time era. We were both very tired so we went home and decided that we will talk more tomorrow. © 2014 KurayamiAuthor's Note
