"I've Loved the Stars Too Fondly to be Fearful of the Night"
A Poem by violetlotuss
I remember where I was and how I felt when I wrote this, but I don't really remember physically writing it. It's a weird feeling
"I love the night. I feel that it has a certain wisdom as it walks people home and sees them to bed, sits up with them in times of joy or pain, the stars twinkle down with love and support as you pace around your room, they offer advice and words of peace, their age-old wisdom. The face of the moon smiles down and wraps its gentle beams around you. It’s okay to ask for help and be a bit broken. In fact, the moon himself is covered in craters, and wouldn’t be able to shine without the sun’s rays. The night is a friend, the night is protection. The night knows what the day doesn’t, he knows what you’re like when you’re in love and what you’re like when you just want to bleed and cry and curse at the sky. The night doesn’t judge, he just watches and is always there for you. Like a blanket, or a favorite sweater, the night is a comfort, always full of love for you. Everything settles down and all the lights come on, twinkling and making their presence known, the woods are still and deep and alive, forests breathe, trees whisper to one another, the moon illuminates while we lie safe in bed, or else on our floor, or pacing, or crying, or barely breathing. This is night, the few dark hours before life resumes."
