I Am But a Woman

I Am But a Woman

A Poem by Tara

i am but a woman

i need a purification rite.
douse me in some holy water.
cover me in rosary beads
crosses at my feet
bathe me in a ritual bath
surround me with white candles
lock the church doors
and dont let me out till im pure.

Take the power of my lust
and encircle me with prayer
bind these thighs with steel
and fill this mouth with sacrament.
Let me sip from the holy chalice
and catch me as i fall from grace

Take my ever expanding id
and tie it up in holy ropes
chastity belt around my hips
sing me hymns of redemption
take the serpent and beat him
with the wings of the dove.

extract these base urges
and inject me with divinity
for i am all you have made me
and i am
but a woman.

a bitter brew this morning.
The poem is very good ( though the douse me in holy water, ritual bath, seems repetitive)
There is anger and sarcasm and thumbing your nose at God/ the church...some of my favorite things.
: )
It seems you want to get rid of all the qualities that make you human and interesting and ...a woman.
Don't do that, I like you as a woman.

it might be interesting if you were to include some more eclectic practices and rituals in this.
Call on all the gods to purify you
A sweat lodge, bathing in the Ganges, reciting holy words, smudging with sage or sweet grass, rattles and bones and strange potions from shamans..
I think absinthe might help
: )
Just thoughts.

Good to see you writing things down, it will all come out, no rush.

Namaste'
Tim
