The Fifth FirstA Poem by Lauren N. RodriguezYet another monthly celebratory poem between my boyfriend and I upon sharing our fifth month together.Of a thousand roses, You have selected this one; The lonely black rose Stole her from the garden When none would take her Brought her to life; Coaxing red from darkness And now, she is the reddest of roses But who would've known? None i tell you, For her heart was much too cold And tell me, I'm begging, What is it that you saw in her? Was there something in her eyes you just couldn't ignore? Something no one else saw, And so, never implored? But this treasure, The pleasure; How could we ever sever? When I love you, I will love you Sincerely, And Forever And every month, They have come to be years: So short So quick Yet endless Extending Stretching; Reaching eternity: Grasping it, Hiding on so tightly Tasting it, Savoring the flavor Of the beautiful unknown But time, I have noticed I love, whether patient or hasty For the love you bring Is the only kind that saves me And as my hand Does surely reach your cheek It's the glowing stare My eyes do always meet And in these orbs, These wanting green eyes, Is the same enchanted look I laid upon the very first time So smile so softly As I do always tend Listening to your heartbeat Knowing it's a rhythm without end That your love you will always send My sadness you shall always mend My soul always yours to fend Your heart, more than always you lend These are the things I know, That will never have an end For one more month, Has been just one more way I've loved you The addition of these days Are the strong stitching As we've sewn ourselves together And as you've always known, We shall never be apart Because when it comes to us both We share only one heart © 2013 Lauren N.
