Only The Rain Will KnowA Poem by Lauren N. Rodriguez
I raise my head
And look through your soul I taste your tears Through your nervous lips You reach for my hand As I pull away You comb through my hair As I beg you to stay I rest my head on the wall As I watch my tears fall I bang my fist on the brick As you attempt to comfort me I feel you grip my shoulder And spin me into your embrace And I shudder with sobs Burying your shoulder against my face As I twist your shirt in my fists You hold my neck; pulling me closer to you And you kiss my forehead And beg forgiveness I find the strength to look through your eyes Tear streaks matching my own As the rain falls And washes their salty trace You hold my face tenderly I part my lips wantingly And I breathe you in; The taste of rain dancing on our tongues I slide my hands up your plain white tee Feeling your sculptured body Slick with the evenings downpour I lick my lips as you hold me by the waist You stare and search my face And no words need to be said I giggle now with your hand in my back pocket As I caress your darling face I cry once more And you wipe them away You hold me closer, Hug me tighter; Wishing that time would stretch out farther I turn to that brick wall again Leaning with my arms crossed You walk closer And you place a hand behind my back I grip your shoulders and lace my fingers together behind your neck You reach my mouth And ease your way through With passionate kisses Your hands flat against the wall And we move in rhythm With the sound of the rain And I release all anger Confused emotions And pain 9-7-10 © 2013 Lauren N.
