Beautiful Deceptions

Beautiful Deceptions

A Poem by Lauren N. Rodriguez

The lovely ghost has wandered deep inside
Sits upon her lonely rest in pages;
A glowing legend with secrets to hide
Mocking reality, some think she’s real
Others, know not to believe this appeal
She’s constricting, yet gentle; don’t be fooled
Toyable emotion not to be schooled
Her secrets are fierce, her whispers so sweet
Hiding amongst you, she’s ready to eat
Oh, the hearts she’ll find, they’ll never let be,
Choking their sanity; no longer free
Confusion she starts, redemption she begs
This lovely potion hurts many instead
Took lives of Romeo…and Juliet
