Across from You

Across from You

A Poem by Lucy

I sit across from you in a round table;
You're smoking a cigarette and lean back on the cheap lawn chair.
Untamable thick black hair with a cute smile.
Sharp jaw and sulky brown eyes.

I sit across from you in a round table;
I'm wearing a plain black tee with a baggy green jacket.
Short curly hair with bright green eyes.
Looking off in the distance, I exhale a cloud of smoke.

I sit across from you in a round table;
And you stare at her long blonde hair,
At her pink plump lips, and down her tiny tight shirt.
Listening to her cutesy soft laugh.

I sit across from you in a round table;
And my presence remains faint.
When the wind sweeps her heavenly gold locks,
The lids of my eyes weigh down as they're rimmed with sweet tears.

It makes me think of a couple who once were on fire for each other. But time changed him, he grew tired of her and now sees the attractiveness of someone else.

A sad but too often told tale. '

Well done.
