the shoe.

the shoe.

A Poem by Vincent Esprit FMI
"

A little thanks won't you........

"

The shoe,

Today I am tired,

Yet I must go on,

My feet how they ache,

Yet no rest shall I see,

Every day I take you to the task,

Somedays not even a little shine,

To ease the burden of the scorching heat,

Nor a little notice,

I am just used and used,

Yet I am faithful.

I have no regrets,

I now look for no return,

This I now know,

As I gladly serve,

Yesteday as we walked I glimpsed my new home,

Our new home,

Or so I thought,

My brother was not so lucky,

He could not take the wear and tear,

One morning he dispappeared without a word,

Now I am in the cellar,

WIth no one to serve,

I loved my work.

With no one to serve, I loved my work. I really love this line. What a pleasant, elegant, reductionist, and poignant punch in the gut. Thanks for sharing!

Great poem, I was wondering what shoe poem is about and its interesting. I just didn't understand the last 6 lines, but sometimes the writer means something to himself about his own life. Well done.

this is very neatly done. we don't really ever think about this stuff do we! and now we know what they're thinking!

This made me smile. I like to read poems that give personalities to everyday things. Nice job.

Beautiful poem. It kind of reminded me of my school days when used to write 'An autobiography of a shoe' in my essay !
