why does the black man cry

people in the african american community has been through so much through the years and knowing how much atrocity they have been through brings some of us to tear

why does the black man cry

he cries because he is not accepted 

he cries because he is broken 

he cries because he is killed 

he cries because he is scared 

time and time again 

the black man has searched for equality 

only to be shunned by his very peers 

cast off and thrown away

seen as no more important 

than the dirt beneath our feet 

in time of pain we stand up for each other 

but who stands up for the black man

as his cries go unheard 

and stay silent 

for centuries to come
