Trees are Green

Why leaves are Green

Oh! No you are wrong

 

Trees are Black

Brown Yellow Pink

Rose White

Grey and Ivory

 

The shivering winter

No leaves on the tree

Only Christmas Green

I like the way your poem could be talking about trees & also it could symbolize diversity within the human form, celebrating people of many colors. I am a person who likes to find more interesting "color" words, going beyond the primary colors like "green" . . . try "verdant" or "jade" or "olive" . . . similarly "black" doesn't show us anything new or original . . . try "ebony" or "midnight". Using basic color words makes this message feel elementary and/or simplistic. It feels like you have great imagery to share, but you could do more to fall in love with all the different words that can be used (thesaurus is a favorite tool of mine) . . . Fondly, Margie

Trees are so much more than most men can appreciate. They are our source of air. They live because of the water, another important resource that we take for granted and contaminate. Trees and water keep man alive. I don't like cutting down any live tree, even when it is to celebrate the birth of Jesus. I do like your poem, however, because it celebrates "the tree."
