I DreamedA Poem by vinny ciambrielloAs I stood on a pier upon the Hudson River upstate NY on a quiet Sunday afternoon, my eyes espied a boat, small, white and lazily floating in its center...
I Dreamed
I dreamed of a wide river Dark, swirling velvet and a small boat upon it And me in that boat, staring up into the blue Comfortable lost to the world, now forgotten And i was sure I could leave it forever and float forever and kiss the one I love as long as that make love to my own soul treasure a day, an hour the time it takes to blink But, alas, i was upon the shore and the boat was someone else's The dream still holding me there, a half hour to the next train home I sighed deeply troubled The gulls landing in the late afternoon mocked me The distant shore mocked me The total laughing stock, i turned my back to it Though as the train followed the river back I was assured of its presence Soaked deep into me And closing my eyes briefly I again floated thereupon in blue heavens Happy as before © 2011 vinny ciambriello |
