Death of a Soul

Death of a Soul

A Poem by Kyle

Death of a Soul

Among the embers of this smoldering soul
lies a weary heart yearning for a gentle nudge
awakened by the lonliness of life so silent
this pain unknown to all, caring escapes

Drawn to the fire in your eyes of mystery
a shudder begins the desire for survival
calling unto the heart of stone, it softens
hungering now for the soothing touch

What may become of one without the taste,
without the arousal to be caught in emotions
tangling web of loves fire, feelings askew
death comes to the soul forever without you

I enjoyed this very much so. It was intriguing how you described the soul as "smouldering" while the heart is "yearning," waiting for a "nudge." This poem can be interpreted in numerous ways, but one of significance for me was as follows:
The soul is dead, though the body lives. The soul becomes another victim of modern life, and though the owner is depressed, his/her heart holds on with hope.
Well done!
