Loneliness

Loneliness

A Poem by Lost Pen

Mankind is like a child who is trying to outrun his shadow...
but is doomed to fail, because loneliness is man's most ancient companion

...The shadow of loneliness began to stalk me. It was there through my teenage
years like a constant melody humming in the background when i pined for my ladylove. It was there with me on the stage sniggering in a jam packed auditorium, in my turbulent 20s, when i wanted to prove something to my dark passenger.

Adulthood brought so many responsibilities and expectations that in order to meet those i tasted continuous defeat as an individual but my shadow never left me alone.

Today i am all by my own but when i looked at my shadow for its recognition, it tiptoed around and laughed at me.

So am i alone again?
