Story Of A Girl

Story Of A Girl

A Poem by violet michelle

Story of a girl,
with fire in her eyes.
No one saw her heart until her beauty shone right through it.
Growing up in a too-small house with a baby sister,
she ran across the street and played in the sandbox until the sun went down.
And when the sky was a peachy pink just before the moon came up,
her mother would call her home and tuck her into bed,
as her father sang her a lullaby.
Story of a girl,
nervous to begin her life.
Her mother got sick, and when all hope died,
so did she.
Her father always cried, but he never let her see.
Her sister didn't know and didn't understand,
the girl was just so lost.
Story of a girl,
who's trying to move on.
Awkward with acne, no boys want to dance with her,
only a small group of friends.
No one seems to see her the way her mother used to.
And when it's late at night, she prays to speak to her again.
And she prays to know which path to take,
and she prays to God for everything.
Story of a girl,
so different from before.
Her boyfriend's tall and handsome,
and he makes her want to sing.
He kisses her goodnight on her doorstep,
while her father watches and her sister giggles.
She swears she's gonna marry him someday,
and she hopes it true.
Story of a girl,
with so much to live for.
Her best friends love her so much,
they'd never let her cry alone.
She's still a child in her soul,
and her heart is pounding strong and alive,
as she breathes in every whiff of this life.
And looking around,
she knows that she's had bad days, good days, days she'd never mention,
but if she took a step back, and re-did them all,
where would she be now?

This is absolutely astounding! It is soo beautiful. as J.A.N said, it brought tears to my eyes. The concept and function is so delicate and strong to hold the poem to the reader. Great work! It's readers like you would deserve a free publishing deal for millions!

One. Beautifully written.
Two. Personal view, delicate and true.
Three. I've never teared up while reading a poem, until now.

And most importantly,
Four, I love you.
