Letter To Priya

Letter To Priya

A Poem by Vidya Bacchus
"

Words to my daughter

"
                                               Letter To Priya
I know you're sad sometimes,
And words ring hollow,
Even from those you know love you,
Life is strange and unexpected,
There's no handbook and no manual,
And most likely it would be in a foreign language,
If it existed.

But you needn't worry little one,
Life could never,
Wear down a spirit as strong as yours,
Or a  heart as big as yours,
Or ever dull a smile as gorgeous as yours,
So if you're tired take a rest,
If you need to talk talk to me.
You'll make mistakes ,
But that's how you learn,
You'll have your heart broken ,
But you'll find someone,
Who'll help you mend it,
Because life is hard,
But it can be so great and you will hold it in the palm of your hand.

reading simply takes the breath out of me .. i raised my children (2 boys and 2 girls) by myself as their mother died at a very early stage of the game .. a long time ago now .. but even now (children all grown and with their own families) i can see their mom saying just this thing ... your poem .. and these situations do continue sometimes .. i intend to copy this (with credits due;) and send it to my oldest (a daughter) as i think she will be blessed ... may i?

ps. i think this is one of the best (what i call) prose /poems i have read ... it packs such an emotional appeal .. well done says i!

a mother's love is the most pure unconditional thing that has ever existed in this world. Even when we don't see it at times, it's still silently there like the shadows that follow us during the day, or the moon hiding beneath the clouds or the soft wind that blows our tears dry. You have expressed this beautifully! Priya is lucky to have you vidya, you are such an amazing person full of love and warmth.

Beautiful words of advice from a lovely and insightful mother to a daughter. With you as her guide, she will sail through life's problems with a smile. Mothers are so awesome.

Thank you Divya .Your words as always mean so much :)
This gives wise advice. There are no directions and mistakes will be made but we grow from them. A gorgeous smile, a big heart and someone who loves is can ease those moments when life gets in the way.

Something I think any child would be happy to have from her mother. Simply lovely:)
