Who Am I ?

Who Am I ?

A Poem by Vidya Bacchus
"

Ramblings of a purple angel.

"
                                                             Who am I ?

I am  not a poet or a wordsmith,
Who can capture with my words,
I can only beg these pages,
To be patient with my ramblings,

I am not a singer that can coax a tear,
By the sweetness of my voice,
And be remembered long after,
My curtain has fallen.

I am but a person cast adrift in my life,
Wondering and worrying,
That I am going about it all wrong,
And everyone knows,

As they judge me in silence,
Shaking their heads at every decision,
But offering no advice,
Lest I realize they are looking.

I used to need your approval,
It meant so much to me,
Until I realized it was never mine to have,
And then my approval became all that mattered to me.

so true -- there are people we have in our lives whose approval we crave, but at the end of the day, it's our own skin we have to live in.:)

Seems like you've learned a lesson most miss during an entire lifetime. This is such a diamond: "And then my approval became all that mattered to me."

So very true. Life is short and we must realize and be content with who we are. We were created that way for a reason.

Great work, my friend.

As they judge me in silence,
Shaking their heads at every decision,
But offering no advice,
Lest I realize they are looking.

Only approval and rejection can never judge our identity.
This is deep write.

Kinda deep write!
It's looked you passed through emotional bushes of moments & conquered it all -- with your own words. Sometimes, worst time bring the life writing such deep pieces full of emotions & inspirations. You still write very beautiful pieces. Indeed.

Depending on other people's judgements to define who we are is a painfully common thing which I am, myself, guilty of is a very damaging thing. You base your self-worth on the opinions of someone who is imperfect and unwilling to help you at all. Self-discovery is left to each person to loo within himself to realize that though you're not perfect, you are still worht more than a billion dollars.
The last stanza was just a delightfully-inspiring thing to read.

Yes! Accept yourself for who you are and be happy with who you are!! There is nothing that can get in your way if you love yourself. Besides, who needs all that negativity from yourself when we get it from others around us> Beautiful and positive write! xo :)
