Hello Sadness

Hello Sadness

A Poem by Vidya Bacchus
"

My closest friend sometimes.....

"
                                      Hello Sadness.
Why do I let you in sadness?
My always companion,
Never far from the surface,
I laugh now but know you are waiting,
To engulf me in your stifling embrace,
And pull me under choking my screams.
Where are you happiness?
I can still smell your perfume,
Fading away in the breeze,
This fleeting scent of nostalgia all that's left.
I can't keep you,
You are like sand slipping through my fingers,
Ahh there you are anger,
My fearless champion,
With your venomous words,
You flay my enemies,
You tear them limb from limb,
And leave me more wounded than they could ever be.
When I stand on the grave yard of my emotions,
Burying them as far down as I can,
Lovingly placing their tombstones,
And lying fresh flowers on their memory,
I'll stand alone falling to my knees ,
Again crippled by sadness my only true companion.

Where are you happiness?
I can still smell your perfume,
Fading away in the breeze, (beautiful imagery)

Yes, my friend, we all have those days..and though we don't wish them or want them, they find us

Why do I let you in sadness?
My always companion,
Never far from the surface,

The emotion in your words touched my heart. Wishing you sunny days my sweet friend.

:) Julie

Thank you so very much my sweet friend :)
This is by far my favorite piece by you... Oh my goodness girl.. I LOVE IT...

The emotional journey, the depth of feeling, like talking to friends, discussing the memories you share...

So vivid, so powerfully moving... Amazing job!

Very nice. I love the imagery in here. "You tear them limb from limb and leave me more wounded than they could ever be" - I really love that line. This whole piece flowed so well :)

Your very welcome my friend:)
No matter how deeply we bury sadness, it always seems to rise again. Usually it does so at the most inopportune moment too. Your words are heartfelt and the images vivid. Intensely emotional poetry, Vidya. Good work. Lydi**
