Let Me Go

Let Me Go

A Poem by Vidya Bacchus
"

Knowing something should be but never will be.

"

by Vidya Bacchus and Jonathan Edward Furches

Tell me to go otherwise I'll never leave,
Wrapped in your arms I want to believe,
That I belong here this is my home,
And she's the one that can't leave you alone.

Tell me we're wrong even though we feel right,
Tell me you love her and I'll go without a fight,
Don't sear me with kisses that ask me to stay,
And damn me with promises that always go astray.

Let me be let me go,
Show me balance within the depth of cold,
Allow my fears to find me near,
Even I understand your greatest fear.

I know your right within the fight,
Your golden gloves I see,
Hopes, leaps, bounds and promises,
They are all my eyes can see.

I need to leave but I have to stay,
Destiny's tender I gladly pay,
If today is ours then lets not ponder,
If your tomorrow is promised  to another.

My new favorite of yours... Oh my goodness what a collaboration girl...

"Don't sear me with kisses that ask me to stay,

And damn me with promises that always go astray."

Love, lust, relationships are so dang confusing and complicated by thoughts, doubts, and expectations... Perceptions of the psyche muddied by emotions of the heart:)

Deeply moving... beautifully written

You both have Nicely penned this.

I loved these stanza's lines here the most.

Let me be let me go,

Show me balance within the depth of cold,

Allow my fears to find me near,

Even I understand your greatest fear.

I know your right within the fight,

Your golden gloves I see,

Hopes, leaps, bounds and promises,

They are all my eyes can see.

While I read this, it reminded me of an affair between two people. A very secret, yet luscious love that would tear the other two lovers apart. She wants to stay, but doesn't want to risk getting in trouble, yet would understand if he went back to his other lover in the end. The first stanza would have to be my favorite, but I don't console cheating in any type of serious relationship. If someone cheats, then I believe they are missing something important or yearn something that the other simply cannot give them.

Those lines captivated me. They where moving so meaningful, strong, romantic and heartbreaking. The rhyming was also great and seemed to come naturally, didn't feel forced.
The whole poem was beautiful, but heartbreaking.
Brilliant write!

I so love the rhymes, it flows so smoothly and really good. It is almost as if it is only one voice I heard as I read along, I just thought it was two separated time-lines of a poem. It is a great collab.

I find this piece reflects reality that some affairs are not forever kept, facing facts that you can't love two person all at once or it never good to rock two boats at the same time - in that matter promises goes dry.

a very amusing piece!

Wow, I love it. I've always loved poetry (although I've never been any good) and it's so rare to find poets who write so well. It's wonderful.

Thank you so much Berry. You are a great writer if your story is any indication :)
If today is ours then lets not ponder,
If your tomorrow is promised to another.

Beautiful collaboration. We all know both of you are very talented at this platform. And your love verse is Kamal.

Hopes, leaps, bounds and promises,
They are all my eyes can see.

Thank you so much Sonashree. It was great writing with my buddy Jon :)
Boy oh boy... The innocent mind will never understand the complexities of the heart torn by betrayal.
This is how the moments feel. We do not see the unethical lies and the stealing of affections promised elsewhere... We do not want to admit the futility, the vanity of this affair of life in general. We certainly do not want to face the facts in this specific instant.
"Tell me we're wrong even though we feel right," is an oxymoron. It feels perfectly wrong, but it does feel perfect... Yes, I see the poetry. I regrettably understand the situation.
The last two lines are even a delusion I think... What was promised in a yesterday and is still promised in tomorrow can never be given to another today... It is a poorly shared lending of an unsustainable fantasy. OH, but it taste soooo good. Yes, it is so with everyone who finds their hearts infected with this disease. Easy to catch, forever scaring our souls, and never the isolated case we believe it to be. It is pandemic...
I loved the write. You have captured the reality of this fantasy.

I read this the other day and meant to come back and leave a review. Y'all created a heart wrenching piece of art together, the words in sync and harmony...now I'm going to go somewhere and choke back these tears *sniff* (smile). These sad love writes are working on me.
