Wonderful! People may see faults in themselves others don't see or are unhappy in s relationship. It's a shame and heartbreaking in some way one can't just find their happiness for what they have or to go and find what makes them happy.

Why thank for that. What a wonderful compliment. :o] You're very welcome.
Why can't people let themselves be happy? Because they're happier being sad? Because their unhappiness drowns all other feelings? Tis so, people suffer, can't clamber from it.. desperation drives them deeper into 'whatever'. Alternatively, there are ways of using weaknesses as strengths - of proving something. But, how it turns out depends on the person. We others can't judge because we can't stand in someone else's shoes -or them in ours - no matter we try.
Reading your words again, i wonder how one can be a jailer and know it, yet, not throw away the cage door; plus if that exit is used, why go searching, why not leave well.. and free, alone.
I so hope this is poetic ramblings rather than fact. Tis sad on both sides of the print, even though finely written.

Just poetic ramblings my sweet friend and thank you ever so much for your kind words :)
That is the question of the time. Another related question to look into - What is happiness? If it can't be defined, it surely can't be achievable. If you attempt to reach something you can't understand, you'll never reach it. Loved the poem!
Thought-provoking and truly mysterious, even though you've stated the theme clearly. Happiness is not easy for me because I'm bipolar...for all but the first few years of my life, I've been attempting to forget it all and stay positive, but my inner workings do not allow it, and it's hard to explain that to people. But I totally relate to this...the cage, the hunted look (love that image) and so on. I mentioned it was mysterious too cuz I do think this can go lots of different ways from an interpretive standpoint. Great work as always my friend :)

Such conflicted thoughts expressed so clearly. I simply fall in love with your words, every time I read your poems, all over again. Love this too, obviously :)
I think that what happens is that we try to be someone we're not. We want to be better than we can and aspire to be more and give more. We really should just be happy with the person we are and not try to be someone we're not. This is deep and powerful, Vidya.

Exactly, see you're a smart chika.. I knew we were friends for a reason! ;)
Lovely writing,Vidya! People never let themselves be happy because of their greed, I guess. They aspire to reach a particular place, and en route, the destination is keeping pace with the progress, it just keeps on moving forward and forward, it's just like being trapped in a circle. If only we could realise that this moment, and only this is happiness, we'd all be better off! :)
P.S.: Is there anyway to hide this from Frieda? I know if she sees this, she'll be posting "wisdom from the lolli-kid" or something similar :P

I try so hard to understand your panic,
At having everything you ever wanted,
And being stifled by it,
Till you can't think, for wanting out,
And I ...........can't.
Very hard poetry dear..... It is always pleasure to read you dear.
