PromisesA Poem by Vidya BacchusAccept me.Promises Walk with me on a deserted shore, Share a sunset with me before it is no more, Let us entwine our fingers as we entwine our hearts, And wax poetic about never being apart.
I want you to be a man of your word, To believe in me before my defence is heard, I want a reason to believe in the happy ever after, Even when reality intrudes with its mocking laughter.
Handle gently my dreams because they are easily broken, Understand my desires before they are spoken, Look into my eyes and fathom my story, And find out the truth before harbouring theory,
I am so quirky my temper is hot, Make peace with me when pride tells me I must not, It seems so much to ask of any man, But then you accepted it all when you asked for my hand.
