My Forever Knight

My Forever Knight

A Poem by Vidya Bacchus
"

Knowing you belong with someone and they are all the things you would ever need

"

          My Forever Knight
Free me oh brave knight,
With the shiniest of swords,
Cut down my enemies with a swipe of your blade,
And with barely a word steal me away,
Upon your swiftest steed,
Away with me you ride.

Write me a verse sweet poet,
Say words to me that will never belong to another,
Bring tears to my eyes and kiss them away,
Bury me within your scented embrace,
Like the calmest of seas ,
Let me dance on your shore.

Build me a home dear lover,
Where our children's laughter,
Rival that of the greatest symphonies,
Nod your head contentedly ,
With a smile on your face,
As you let  me talk forever about everything and nothing.

Now you my brave knight,
Who recites prose and built me a home,
I bask in your reality,
Never worried that your love will falter,
Never happier than in your arms,
Never complete when you are not here.

I think this seems to show an underlying need to be rescued by our love and kept safe. We all need to feel that love and to Hero worship our chosen partner is no bad thing as long as we except their faults as well. In poetry we can forget the faults and live the fantasy. Nice.

Very much enjoyed this.
At first it through me to have the title so close to the opening line. But reading the piece, I very much enjoyed and picture your words.

A beautiful and hopeful poem. Your words are true. We need to feel safe and loved. I like the purpose and reason for the poem. No weakness in the outstanding poetry.

Thank you Coyote for your very kind review :)
Your poem seems like a modern version of Shakespeare's plays. Well penned my dear friend.

You are most welcome :)
A shade sappy for me, but lovely write as always. There is an extra space in the last line, third stanza - I have yet to catch more than that :) Your friendly neighbourhood grammarian.
