Two things I love about this posting. Your authors note is a great invitation for people to be more expressive in their reviews for everyone. Second, I love when a writer can take a topic that is so over-written-upon and say something that hasn't already been said. I don't think you're saying anything profound about it, which is what most writers try to do. It's more like you're SHOWING how it feels in a more visceral way & this is what makes your poem unique on a topic that's hackneyed. I also love when a writer shows the good & bad in a good balance, which you've done here (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Well since you asked: when I read this poem I think of the eight years of my life I feared living more than dying. It wasn't until I was on the edge of death did I understand that life would move on without me and there were still so many things I wanted to see, feel, and do. Some days are still hard but I never crave death the way I once preferred it over the living.
So, to answer the perhaps rhetorical question of what I think if means to be alive...
I think it means living for yourself and being true to yourself, understanding that you're not the only one alone in this feeling and that by understanding the darkest corners of your mind you can embrace all hardship, loss, and companionship. What it means to be alive is to carry the pain and use it to remind you that all you lived for means something - and in the end, you chose what comes next.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts. It helped me remember my own reason for living :)
I get the feeling that you are sometimes carrying a big load, of anxiety, hope, pain, rapid heart beat, living with your soul (which is heavy with emotions) shedding tears; but those tears could be tears of hope, laughter, a miracle. There is some glimmer of a positive slice of life here. I like the way you balance this and ask yourself these questions, because life brings different emotions to each one of us.
Nicely written Vidit! Best, Betty

Great topic in this coronavirus time.
Being alive might just be surviving.
Surviving might be a different journey you choose in life.
Who knows, we wait and wonder.

Hey Paul, yeah...
You can not deny things by your own. So is Life.
