So many Faces

So many Faces

A Poem by Vidit V Kumar

So many faces

So many faces I see,
Abiding the orders of the hierarchy,
Pushing in the limits of their bodies,
Growing  old, making their roots stronger,
Fake smiles and lies are perfection now,
Just to earn a space. 'A face.'

So many faces I see,
Falling in the lake of troubles,
Silently screaming for help.
Waiting for death and
Believing there is heaven.

So many faces I see,
Flowing with the wind to a direction,
Carrying the loads of their plights on their shoulders,
With not a sigh of relief to them anymore,
Predicting that the end is around.

Intense... reminds me of something I've written too. I love how this piece pulls you in and sees different sides of the same perspective. It even makes the reader wonder what their own face looks like in the crowd and what they would find if they pulled themselves out of their daily routine to just looked around and SEE the people co-existing their routine lives around us. Great write, man.

I'm Glad you like it. Ya it's true we all are too busy to know who we are!

Your poem speaks to me of how we humans tend to think of ourselves as being defined by our identity . . . I'm a "XXXX" (usually what we do for a living or if we are a parent, or whatever). These are just the faces we wear, not the spirit or the soul that resides within us. Your poem shows how unfulfilling it can be to operate in this world as just "a face" . . . suggesting that something deeper needs to be found (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
