HummingbirdA Story by Victoria Her heart was beating, faster than a hummingbird's wings, she stood there looking into her killer's eyes. His gaze was crazed, uncontrolled, as he took in her petite frame, dark hair and eyes that were bright with fright. She heard his encroaching footsteps and heavy breathing, she knew him, she’s always known him. She loved him, needed him, she never thought he was capable of this. She looked down again at the knife in his right hand, the way it shone, glittered almost, she could hear her beating in her ears, as she watched him move toward her, like an animal stalking it’s prey. That’s when he finally reached her his nasty hot breath pelting her cheek, his left hand closed around her throat, his right hand clutched around the knife. She began to cry out to him, begging him to stop, she thought of the new life she was carrying, how it would never get to live. She was determined to let her baby live, she would do anything for her baby girl. He brought the knife up to her throat, when he walked in on this desperate scene, it was the man she loved sweeter, truer and deeper.
