I Surrender

I Surrender

A Poem by Vanessa P

The gifts in life that were set for you
Were not destined for someone like me
Each day passed I see red and green
Unable to mask my deep feeling envy

Drowning in my own pool of misery
I cower my demented soul in the corner
Losing concept of sanity by the second
I forget the values I upheld once long ago

Shamed and losing face over and over again

I'm so lost in my own mind
I couldn't remember the place and time
All the madness began

As I struggle to uphold my faith
Hope is slowly fading away from me
What used to be within arms reach
Barely close enough to sense by my fingertips

Why can't I give up?
Why shouldn't I let it win?
My fate's already been decided
I am to stay as how I'd always been
